12 year old Bautista Riera lays paralyzed in a Paris hospital bed, after a day of fun and rides gone terribly wrong two weeks ago at EuroDisney.
The Riera family had only enjoyed the thrill of three or four rides, when young Bautista started feeling sick; shortly after climbing off “The Tower of Terror,” a “Twilight Zone” themed ‘sudden-plunge’ ride. Shortly thereafter, Bautista’s father took the boy to the Park’s medical center.
Bautista’s condition rapidly deteriorated, and when it became evident he was undergoing severe neurological problems, he was taken to the Necker hospital in Paris. At the time of arrival, his upper limbs had become paralyzed.
In a matter of minutes, Bautista got worse and had to be connected to a respirator because he was having trouble breathing as the paralysis moved down in his body.
According to Bautista’s family the boy was in good health and played rugby, basketball and practiced martial arts back in Argentina.
The amusement park released a statement saying “We run routine checks in our attractions daily. We having received reports of any incidents with the rides, and control checks say all rides work properly.”
Bautista is stable and doctors are reportedly preparing to transport him to Buenos Aires.
