As the U.S. lives through another day of winter freeze and snow and Chile officially opens all its 750 beaches - we must ask: “Are we on the wrong side of the Equator?” The start of the beach season in Chile is highly anticipated and summer becomes official when the Chilean Navy officially opens the beaches for swimming. The beaches will stay open in the country until March 15, 2011, just when we are thawing out of our winter freeze.
