The award-winning actress, Angelina Jolie, has returned to Ecuador after eight years to assess the situation since her last visit and to raise awareness of child refugees and violence against female refugees. Jolie focused her visit in the northern part of Ecuador where thousands of Colombian refugees reside.
Jolie met with women in a shelter for victims of domestic violence, where women told stories of beatings, incest, and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence. Jolie will be taking part on Friday in a global live video link which is one of the UN Refugee Agency’s top World Refugee Day event this year.
