Photo: Jessica Sanchez Survives Elimination After Touching Tribute to Her Father
Wednesday night, Jessica Sanchez sang an impressive rendition of Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father” on American Idol, dedicating it to her military father, who is about to be deployed to Singapore.
The song choice, along with her earlier performance of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” were not only impressive enough to save her from elimination, but also get her enough votes to make her one of the top three on Thursday night’s results show.
Instead, Elise Testone was sent home for being “a great singer who made choices,” according to contestant mentor Jimmy Iovine.
Thursday night, it was revealed that the American Idol reached a season high 58 million votes cast.
What do you think? Will 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez will take it to the top and be voted this season’s American Idol?
