This week, American Idol has been a nail-biter, as the singing competition show headed to Las Vegas for sudden-death eliminations.
First up were the girls. By the end of the night the following ladies advanced to the top 20:
- Tenna Torres
- Kree Harrison
- Angela Miller
- Amber Holcomb
- Adriana Latonio
During here audition, Torres, 28, revealed she once attended Mariah Carey’s children’s camp known as Camp Mariah. From Jamaica Queens, New York, Torres said this is here last chance to be go for the gold on American Idol due to her age. The eliminations for season 12 continued with the guys, and the following advanced to the top 20:
- Devin Valez
- Curtis Finch Jr.
- Charlie Askew
- Paul Jolley
- Elijah Liu
Devin Velez, a Chicago barista, surprised the judges by singing Beyoncé‘s “Listen”, during which he mixed in up a bit and sang part of it in Spanish. Judge Nicki Minaj was impressed and called it a smart move, making him more “marketable.”

Minaj may have liked Velez, but it was Elijah Liu that really had her going gaga. The half-Chinese, half-Mexican sang Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon”, after which his new biggest fan said, “You are a super-duper star little boy. I want to have your babies. You’re 18 years old, you’re my new favorite boy, I’m obsessed with you. ... I would sign you today!”
