Emmy winning actress América Ferrara will star as Roxie Hart from November 7 in The West End production of Chicago in London.
América Ferrera will step on to the stage at the Garrick Theatre, for an eight-week run.
She will be in London to celebrate the start of the show’s 15th year, on its anniversary November 18.
Starring opposite Ferrera as Velma Kelly will be Amra-Faye Wright, currently starring in the Broadway production.
After her run in “Chicago”, América Ferrera will make her Broadway debut in a revival of Beth Henley’s 1984 play, “The Miss Firecracker Contest”.
América Ferrera begins rehearsals in March; the production will be directed by Judith Ivey and is scheduled for next spring.
Ferrera would play the role of a Mississippi woman who enters a beauty pageant, a role made memorable by Holly Hunter off-Broadway as well as in the 1989 film “Miss Firecracker”.
