Believing he had an important message to share, the man suspected of shooting at the White House, Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, made a tape for Oprah.
Calling himself the modern day Jesus, Ortega-Hernandez, who has been charged with attempting to assassinate President Obama, pitched himself and what was apparently a show idea to the Oprah Winfrey show.
“You see Oprah, there is so much more that God needs me to express to the world,” he says into the camera. “It’s not just a coincidence that I look like Jesus. I am the modern day Jesus Christ that you all have been waiting for.”
Washington D.C’s WTTG Fox 5 said it obtained a part of the video from a Secret Service agent who learned about the tape, which was recorded two months ago, a few days ago from Ortega-Hernandez’s girlfriend.
Though only a part of the video was aired, the station said it is 45 minutes long, and includes “rants” about the government’s wars in oil-rich countries.
The video was made with the help of a student at Idaho University, who never actually sent it to the show. Idaho University Professor Tom Hallaq said he never thought to turn the tape over to authorities, because no threats were actually made, and the video was just rambling.
