Casa del Migrante in San Luis Potosi,in Mexico closes down according to Father Ruben Perez who operates the safe passage house.

Among the reasons: lack of security for migrants, the request of the property on behalf of the parish of San Sebastian, and the precarious health services provided to migrants. In 15 years of pastoral commitment about 120,000 migrants in Mexico have received assistance, shelter, food, clothing, medicine and human warmth. On an annual basis 8,000 to 9,000 Central American migrants are welcomed.

However, compared to a year ago, the passage to San Luis Potosi has dropped by 50%. Father Perez, however, has ensured that the closure is temporary and another house designed specifically for the dignified reception of thousands of migrants who pass through Mexico and to San Luis Potosi will open.

Meanwhile, the Central Americans will find a reference point at the railway stations, where meals will be offered to them.
