Adios Mexico!  Mexico Loses to Argentina, Out of World Cup Play

They came ready, much promise and praise heaped on them but yesterday Mexico’s team did not deliver.  The team lost to Argentina in the second round of World Cup play, with a score of 3-1.  Their hopes to advance to the quarter-finals were dashed early, by a poor call allowing Argentinean Carlos Tevez an offside goal and seven minutes later a goal by Gonzalo Higuain to occur.  The third and final goal occurred in the second half, another goal by Tevez.

The Mexican team has not advanced to the quarter-finals since 1986 and since then 1970.  Many thought this was the year for a team with several players playing in European’s top professional leagues.  Coach Javier Aguirre is positive they have the making of a great team “We have a great generation of young players who must be put to the best possible use, I believe in four years they will be at the top.  We can look forward to a bright future” and so do many of their fans.
