Eugenio Derbez, Mexican actor and star of “Instructions Not Included,” has announced he is donating a portion of his earnings to the people of Acapulco affected by Hurricane Manuel.
The surprise summer hit movie was filmed in Acapulco. The film is currently in its fourth week in theaters and has become the most successful Spanish-language movie release in the U.S., earning nearly $30 million. The film will be released this week in Mexico.
The death toll from Hurricane Manuel and Hurricane Ingrid, the dual storms that battered Mexico last week, currently stands at 115. Acapulco, now inaccessible by road, was one of the cities most heavily affected by the storms.
The actor donated ticket sale proceeds from this past Friday’s box office which has been estimated at $1.0 Million.
