Television networks ABC and Univision announced Tuesday that in the second half of this year they will join forces to launch a new channel for the Hispanic audience called Fusion.

Five cable TV distributors - Cablevision, Charter, Cox, AT&T U-verse and Google Fiber - have already agreed to include Fusion in their respective channel menus.

The channel will offer subject matter focused on topics of interest for the Hispanic community, the country’s fastest growing minority that now numbers some 50 million people.

Programming will include the economy, entertainment, music, cooking, immigration, urban culture, education, politics, health and more.

Hispanics represent 16 percent of the U.S. population according to the last Census, and that number is expected to rise some 30 percent by 2050.

The channel’s main studios will be in Miami.
