While contraband in prison is not unusual, especially in Mexico, getting your routine botox shots is. Nonetheless, Mexico’s drug cartel ‘Queen of the Pacific’, Sandra Avila Beltran made sure her doctor was admitted to the prison she in being held in to get cosmetic enhancements, including botox shots, liposuction and a nose job.
Mexican authorities are now admitting that the doctor was improperly admitted to Santa Martha Actitla, a high security women’s prison in Mexico City. Especially since Beltran is alleged to be a top decision maker in the Sinaloa cartel.
In addition Beltran is under special guard since arriving in prison in 2007, she is in jail based on U.S. cocaine trafficking charges and the U.S. is seeking to extradite her here. Last month Beltran was acquitted of all drug charges in Mexico due to ‘lack of evidence’. It is feared her boyfriend reputed Colombian trafficker Juan Diego Ramirez, ‘El Tigre’ might want to see her botoxed face outside of prison and spring her free.
Mexican authorities have fired the prison warden and medical director for the screw up.
