Photo: "Space Life" by Matteo López
Matteo López is the 7 year-old winner of the second “Doodle 4 Google” contest.
The San Francisco boy drew a picture with markers and colored pencils, creatively depicting the Google letters, in the shapes of a green alien, Earth, an astronaut in a space suit, a lunar landing vehicle, a rocket ship, and a meteor. The logo is featured on Google’s homepage today.
For his victory, Matteo earned a $15,000 college scholarship, a netbook computer, and his school will receive a $25,000 grant.
The Monte Verde Elementary School second-grader, whose inspiration is astronaut Neil Armstrong, told TODAY that his dream is to “meet other people in different planets and go to other planets I haven’t been to ... I’ve only been to Earth.”
