At least seven people died and 32 were injured Wednesday when two buses collided on a highway in eastern Venezuela, authorities said.
“Collision of 2 transportation units on Piritu-Clarines road, Matadero sector, left ... 7 dead and 32 injured,” emergency services reported in a Twitter message.
The accident occurred at 2 a.m. and the cause remains under investigation, emergency services said.
Including this crash, 27 people have died in bus accidents in Venezuela in the past 30 days.
On June 16, 20 people died and 10 were injured when a bus hit a tree on the regional highway in central Venezuela.
In July 2013, 16 people died and 33 were injured in a bus-truck crash, and in April 2012, two buses collided near the eastern city of Barcelona killing 14 and injuring 22.
