At approximately 8:12 am this morning the northern region of Argentina was rattled with a 6.2 magnitude earthquake. The area affected is sparsely populated and borders Bolivia and Paraguay.
The closest city was Salta which is located 85 miles from the epicenter and 419 miles away from Paraguay’s capital city of Asuncion.
There are no reports of severe damage or deaths but the quake was felt in Asuncion and evacuations were called for of office buildings.
The quake struck at a shallow depth.
