A 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook the Pacific coast of Guatemala late Monday afternoon at approximately 4pm PST. The epic center was near the capital city of Guatemala City some 6 miles southeast.
The quake was 124.6 deep according to the U.S. Geological Survey, therefore barely felt. Authorities have not reported any casualties or severe damage to buildings.
The country has suffered through several catastrophic earthquakes with mass casualties. On November 7, 2012 a 7.4 magnitude quake hit San Marcos leaving 50 dead and the deadly 1976 earthquake left 23,000 dead.
