Six bodies were found in a clandestine grave near the central Mexican town of Amacuzac, the Morelos state Attorney General’s Office said.
The victims were described as six males ranging in age from 30 to 65.
Authorities are working to identify the bodies, establish the individual causes of death and determine how long ago the bodies were buried, the AG’s office said in a statement.
Area ranchers stumbled onto the clandestine grave on Monday while searching for lost livestock.
The ranchers notified state police and the first body was unearthed Tuesday afternoon, according to the official statement.
The discovery in Amacuzac comes after 12 sets of human remains were found buried in a hidden grave in Emiliano Zapata, Morelos.
In that instance, medical examinations showed the victims had been dead for around two years.
