Blog del Narco- Golf Cartel Sends Message by Hanging Banners from Bridges Today

This morning about 07:30 am, hanging over several footbridges was a message from The drug Cartel - the Gulf Cartel.  One was located in front of Boulevard Hidalgo Bodega Aurrera in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas; pedestrians and drivers had a clear view of the message hung by the Gulf Cartel.

The message was to inform the people that the Cartel has no issue with the people or the government but with those that are kidnapping,robbing and murdering.

Control of the lucrative drug business continues to be a struggle in Tamaulipas.

Latin Americans Have Highest Obesity Rate in the World

The countries of the Americas have the highest obesity rate in the world, said Ecuador’s representative to the Pan American Health Organization on Tuesday.

“Obesity, overweight affects at least one of every two adults and there are already some countries where it is three of every four,” PAHO’s Gina Tambini said in a meeting with reporters in Quito.

The first units of the National Guard contingent Texas Gov. Rick Perry is deploying to the Mexican border amid a surge in the arrivals of unaccompanied minors from Central America are in position, authorities said Tuesday.

“The Texas National Guard currently has troops all along the border between Texas and Mexico in support of Operation Strong Safety,” Lt. Col. Joanne MacGregor, public affairs officer at Texas Military Forces, told Efe.

Pro-immigrant activists are fighting for the release of an undocumented Mexican arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement just as he was about to defend himself in a local court with alleged evidence of abuse by police in California’s Orange County.

The organizations and the Mexican’s family say the Santa Ana Police Department is violating the guidelines that block collaboration between local law enforcement agencies and ICE.

Senator Rubio Warns Obama About Curbing Deportations

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Tuesday warned President Barack Obama that use of his executive authority to curb deportations would “close to the door” to immigration reform.

The lawmaker sent a message to the president addressing the potential measures that Obama could take, given the inability of Congress to prepare a bill on comprehensive immigration reform, a task that has been blocked by Republicans in the House of Representatives.

All the bees could disappear from Chile over the next 15 years, but the country could also become the last refuge for the industrious and beneficial insects, experts with the NGO Plan Bee told Efe on Tuesday.

Chile’s bee population is falling by 8 percent each year, warned Paula Pedreros, one of the organization’s founders.

Manchester United confirmed Tuesday night that it has signed Argentine winger Angel Di Maria, a key part of Real Madrid’s Champions League-winning side last season, to a five-year deal.

The English club agreed to pay the Spanish-league powerhouse 59.7 million pounds ($98.8 million) for the player, the highest transfer fee ever by a Premier League team.

Comprehensive immigration reform legislation would give a majority of America’s 11 million undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship and work authorization. But with immigration reform stalled in the House, President Obama announced that he plans to “fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress.” The President is reportedly considering deferring the deportations of up to 5 million immigrants, starting with those with families. While most columnists have supported the President’s authority to take action, a minority have accused President Obama of “rewriting the law” and called him a “domestic Caesar.”

Groups Call on Mexico to Ban Fishing Nets to Protect Endangered Vaquita

Environmentalist groups have asked the Mexican government to declare a total and immediate ban on fishing nets in order to avoid the extinction of the vaquita, a rare species of porpoise found only in the northern Gulf of California.

The International Committee for the Recovery of the Vaquita, known by the Spanish acronym Cirva, said there are currently fewer than 100 specimens of the cetacean left and warned that, if immediate measures are not taken, this species runs the risk of extinction by the year 2018.

Ricky Martin, father of 6-year-old twin boys Matteo and Valentino, announced Tuesday that next year he wants to be a father again, but this time of a baby girl.

“The little baby will come next year. When daddy’s little girl arrives, I want to be there,” the Puerto Rican singer told a group of reporters during a round table discussion at the educational center that his foundation has created in Loiza, east of San Juan.
