Municipal Workers Accidentally Stumble Upon Ancient Tomb in Medellin, Colombia

A second culturally significant ancient tomb was accidentally uncovered in Medellin, Colombia last Friday.

Municipal workers uncovered the indigenous tomb while repairing water lines in Colombia’s second largest city.  The discovery was made in the residential neighbor of La Colinita de Guayabal according to El Colombiano.

Venezuelan President Maduro Officially Declares ‘It’s Christmas’ in His Country

Is Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro crafty or crazy? You decide.

Over the weekend, Maduro officially declared that Christmas had come to the South American country nearly two months early.  The 50-year-old President and hand-picked successor of the late Hugo Chavez, gave out Christmas gifts to government employees in the form of bonuses and pensions.  He then proceeded to light the Nativity lights at the presidential palace, Palacio de Miraflores.

Colombian actress and star of ‘Modern Family’ Sofia Vergara has been named the new spokesperson for Procter & Gamble’s Head & Shoulder shampoo.  In an interesting advertising twist Vergara and several members of her extended family will be part of the advertising campaign, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

This is but another marque consumer product that the 41-year-old actress is endorsing.  She is currently the face of Cover Girl, Diet Pepsi, and Rooms To Go among others.  Vergara is also an entrepreneur with her own clothing line in Kmart.

Mexican Rock Band Mana in Miami Working on Next Album

With nearly 35 million in worldwide sales, the Mexican band Mana is currently in Miami working on what they say will be a “positive, upbeat” album.

It will be “danceable” and have “all the enthusiasm of rock and roll,” the band’s vocalist, Fernando “Fher” Olvera, told Efe.

Colombian Authorities Destroy High-Tech 39-Foot Narco Submarine

Colombian police on the Pacific coast destroyed a submarine outfitted with modern technology and with the capacity to transport up to eight tons of cocaine.

The vessel, 12 meters (39.4 feet) long and 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) wide, could accommodate up to four crewmembers, was constructed of steel and fiberglass and had a powerful diesel motor, police said Tuesday in a communique.

Spanish world No. 1 Rafael Nadal hammered countryman David Ferrer 6-3, 6-2 Tuesday at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, getting payback for the loss that Ferrer handed him three days ago at the Paris Masters.

The 27-year-old Spanish star, who is hoping to win the season-ending tournament for the first time, needed an hour and 14 minutes to put away his feisty 31-year-old opponent in Group A action.

Last Friday authorities found two decapitated bodies in the trunk of a taxi. One was the taxi driver and the other was a teacher at Rancho El Dorado.  On the road Coatzacoalcos, Villahermosa, yesterday the body of a second teacher was found who had been reported as missing.

The teacher’s body was found about 5 miles from where authorities had found the other two bodies.  The deceased was identified as Alvaro Morales Silva, who worked as a primary school teacher at Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez. This teacher was also beheaded.  In just under 15 days there have been more than 10 murders, disappearances and beheadings.

Obama Urging Republican-Controlled House to Pass Immigration Reform NOW

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives needs to approve immigration reform by the end of 2013, President Barack Obama said Tuesday before a meeting with business leaders at the White House.

“So this is something that has strong bipartisan support. Keep in mind that my predecessor, George W. Bush, was a strong supporter of this. We have a fascinating cross-section of people - some unlikely bedfellows, some very liberal folks, some very conservative folks - who all believe that now is the time to get this done,” he said.

Just in case you didn’t watch last night’s ‘The Voice’ we have a clip of judge Christina Aguilera’s knock-out performance.  Aguilera along with rapper Flo-rida performed the duo’s new single “How I Feel.” 

The song will be featured in Flo-rida’s upcoming album “The Perfect 10” which will be hitting stores in early 2014.  The 32-year-old mother of one took over the stage in a sheer bodysuit reminding everyone of her sex appeal

14 Cops Tied to Attacks on Federal Property in Venezuela

A court in the northeastern Venezuelan city of Maturin on Tuesday ordered 14 Monagas state police held without bail on charges of attacking federal government buildings.

The arrested officers - 11 men and three women - attacked the regional facilities of the Attorney General’s Office and the interior ministry, prosecutors said.

Alleged Murderer Gets Poisoned and Lynched in Bolivia

A mob hung a 24-year-old man in a town on the Bolivian altiplano on Monday after beating him and accusing him of committing a murder last weekend, a prosecutor and other local officials said.

Prosecutor Javier Taboada told Erbol radio in La Paz that the lynching was carried out in the Andean tourist community of Sorata, where “enraged people” whipped and beat for two hours two men they accused of knifing to death the owner of a pizzeria on Sunday night.

Cleaning Crew Stumbles Across Secret Files of Argentina’s Bloody 1976-1983 Military Junta

A cleaning crew stumbled on dossiers containing all of the secret orders of the 1976-1983 military regime that is blamed for as many as 30,000 deaths, Argentina’s defense minister said Monday.

The documents turned up last Thursday at the Condor building in Buenos Aires, which houses air force offices, Agustin Rossi told a press conference.
