Carlos Castro, a well known Portuguese journalist, was found castrated and killed at the Times Square InterContinental Hotel in New York City yesterday.

After the 65-year-old’s body was discovered in a pool of blood and his scrotum severed, police sought 20 year-old, Portuguese male model Renato Seabra, who had been staying with Castro at the InterContinental.

Seabra was found later in a local hospital getting treatment for cuts and abrasions.  It is believed Seabra attacked Castro after being accused of taking money from him.  The two men had been dating for several months, with Castro paying for Seabra to join him in NYC to ring in the New Year.

Castro was a well known gay rights activist and had his writings appear in Diario de Noticias, 24 Horas Correio and Luso-Americano.  He is revered in Portugal as one of the country’s first social columnists.

Queen of Amphetamines & Interpol’s Most Wanted Women Extradited to US from Colombia

Beatriz Elena Henao is on her way to New York from her native Colombia to face charges of being an international drug trafficker and money laundering.

The 45-year old political scientist and multi-linguist is suspected of being part of the Comba gang that sold amphetamines throughout the world.  Her ability to speak English, Spanish, German and Dutch facilitated the sale of some 300,000 units of amphetamines.

She was on Interpol’s most wanted women’s list and had a price on her head her in the U.S.  She worked along side family members, including her sons, one is in jail for murder in Spain and the other is jailed for drug trafficking in the Netherlands.

Henao has led a colorful life: moves to Amsterdam to marry, starts a dry goods store, divorces, hooks up with a Russian drug smuggler, starts smuggling ecstasy and then is recruited to work internationally with Colombian drug lords and is found out because she will only stay at four-star hotels even when hiding out from the law.

Rep Gabrielle Giffords took Stand on Immigration and Supported Health Care Bill

Rep Gabrielle Giffords took Stand on Immigration and Supported Health Care Bill

Giffords represents a district in southern Arizona that borders Mexico, and Immigration has been her main focus in three terms as a U.S. representative.

She is a Democrat who approaches the immigration debate in a calculated fashion. She mixed the requests for more Border Patrol agents with calls to increase the number of work visas granted to foreigners.
She has constantly said that federal assistance was desperately needed to secure the border and protect residents there.

“(Arizona is) directly paying the price for the burden of all the drug smuggling and human smuggling and immigration,” she said last year. “I understand the anger that Arizonans have about illegal immigration. They’re angry and I’m angry.”

On Health Care, Gifford’s Tucson office was vandalized just hours after she voted to approve the health care reform bill in March, when someone smashed the glass door of the office. Then Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said more than 10 legislators received threats in the days following the vote.

Her support of the health care bill also prompted former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to name Giffords as one of the top “targets” in the November election.

“For example, we’re on Sarah Palin’s targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district,” Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC. “When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action.”

U.S. District Judge John Roll was one of six people killed Saturday in a shooting at an Arizona supermarket.

President Barack Obama confirmed Roll’s death in a public statement hours after the shooting, saying Roll had served the legal system for almost 40 years.
In addition to the six dead, 12 others—including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords—were wounded when a gunman opened fire outside a grocery store in Tucson, where the congresswoman was holding a constituent meeting, police said.

Catholic Youth Group Promotes Racy Calendar Depicting the Passion of Christ

Catholic Youth Group Promotes Racy Calendar Depicting the Passion of Christ

A Roman Catholic youth group in Mallorca Spain has come up with a unique fundraising idea that seems to be going well. The youth posed scantly clad for a calendar recreating scenes from the Passion of Christ. The group is almost sold out of the printer’s first run and is considering another print run. The group is raising funds for materials to aid their work in keeping other young Catholics interested in the church.

The calendar features black and white photos of young men and women recreating images from when Christianity was born. Images included nearly naked gladiators fighting with spears, Roman centurions in exposed butts escorting three Christians wearing loin clothes carrying a wooden cross and 12 naked male models covering their private parts with Roman Soldier Helmets.

Not everyone is happy with the effort however. Mallorca’s Bishop Jesus Murgui is blasting the effort as showing disrespect for the most important Catholic holiday.
“The calendar trivializes Easter,” the Bishop’s office said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press on Friday.

It added: “We regret that the religious feelings of Catholics on this island have not been taken into account and that Christian symbols should not have been shown due respect.”
The youth group’s leader, Pep Mas, said he understood the criticism of the calendar but said it fulfilled a need by raising funds and that the photographs were artistic.
“We accept criticism and opinions, but all of the shots are respectable,” Mas told the Ultima Hora newspaper.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Father Identifies “Whole Tea Party” as Enemies of His Daughter

As U.S. Rep Gabrielle Giffords clings to life after surviving a close range shot to her temple and while 6 others died, 12 wounded in a shooting rampage, questions are being asked as to why.

Her father Spencer Gifford was questioned by the NY Post, as he entered the hospital, if his 40-year old daughter had any enemies and he answered “Yeah, the whole Tea Party.”  Gifford 2010 opponent for the 2010 election was Tea Party candidate Jesse Kelly.

Gifford had come under intensive criticism for supporting Obama’s health care reform bill.  She was also one of Sarah Palin’s infamous ‘crosshairs” legislators, who she vowed had to be removed from office.  Palin’s Political Action Committee introduced the ‘cross-hairs’ list by the motto: “Don’t retreat, instead-RELOAD!”

Days later Gifford’s Congressional office was vandalized.  Even Kelly used violent rhetoric in his campaign by holding an event prompted as “Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office.  Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly.”

The alleged shooter, Jared Loughner a 22-year old white male, is in custody but no motives are known at the point.

Two brothers, age 18 and 21, from Timon, Brazil in the state of Maranhao have confessed to killing their allegedly violent and intolerant father as a act of self-preservation.

Which does not fully explain why they drugged him with sleeping pills and then buried him alive, where he died of asphyxiation.  The brothers confessed their deed to an uncle who immediately told police.

The police are investigating the real motive to the crime – all parties involved remain unidentified.

The father was a well known Afro-Brazilian religious leader who strongly opposed his sons homosexuality, yet police suspect another motive.  They suspect the sons wanted to take over the ‘ceremonial grounds’ where their father worked, hence greed being the motive.

Today Spain’s State Network, RTVE said that it will no longer broadcast Spain’s centuries old tradition of bullfighting. The ban is placed to protect children from viewing violence.

“Children can view violence exerted over animals with anxiety and we must therefore avoid it by all means,” the stations latest stylebook says.
Furthermore, bullfights “generally coincide with hours protected or specially protected for young viewers.” As a result, RTVE will no longer broadcast bullfighting.

Spain has been undergoing a strong debate over the sport that many Spaniards revere as an art form while other consider it archaic. In July the northeastern region of Catalonia became the second Spanish region to ban bullfighting, joining the Canary Islands, which outlawed the practice in 1991.

Eva Longria’s expansion plans for her popular Hollywood restaurant, Beso, has hit a snag with the bankruptcy filing for the Las Vegas Beso nightclub and restaurant.

In 2009 Longoria and celebrity chef Todd English took Beso to Las Vegas and opened in the CityCenter after the success of the original restaurant which opened in California in 2008.

The Las Vegas operation, which Longoria is a one-third owner, appears to have $2.5 million in assets with $5.7 million in debt, much of it rent due to the landlord at CityCenter.  The bankruptcy filing does not impact Longoria’s original restaurant in Hollywood.

In a statement to AP sent by Longoria she states, she is looking forward “to a more proactive, hands-on approach in the coming years with my Las Vegas businesses.”  All indications are that the nightclub-restaurant will remain open while it reorganizes.

No Mixing of Doritos and Eucharist for Super Bowl Ad, Pepsi Decides

No Mixing of Doritos and Eucharist for Super Bowl Ad, Pepsi Decides

Doritos had all the right intentions, when it launched its very popular ‘Doritos Crash the Super Bowl’ ad contest giving the crafty and creative an opportunity to launch their ad idea in front of millions of Super Bowl fans on game day.

Pepsi, who owns Doritos, selects from hundreds of submissions to create a final slate of 10 then makes them into commercials that viewers vote on.  The winning ad goes on to be one of six ads that is aired on February 6th, for the Super Bowl.

However, this year one of the 10 finalist ‘Feed Your Flock’ will never see the light of day yet is going viral on the internet.

The ad entry was pulled due to outrage mostly by Catholics, religious organizations and a conservative sector that do not like the idea of replacing the Eucharist for Doritos and the ‘blood of Christ’ for Pepsi MAX.  Or maybe the Catholic Church didn’t like to see itself portrayed as so desperate for money it would give Doritos and Pepsi to its parishioners to save some money.

See for yourself and decide if you are outraged.

Race Baiter Rush Limbaugh:“If Obama Had Not Been African American,He Would Never Been Elected”

Clearly the new Republican majority in Congress isn’t enough to quell, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s fear about where the country is going, since he is still race baiting.

Yesterday he discussed a recent article in the National Journal explaining why there has been a ‘white flight’ from the Democratic party because of President Obama.  While explaining some of the merits of that view point he made sure he threw in his own race theory, first by identifying the President as a “man-child President of color.”

Rush asserted that the issue of race distorts everything and everyone and “If Obama had not been African American, he would never been elected.”

We suppose much in the same way that an overweight and overbearing white man wouldn’t have a very popular talk show program if he wasn’t a racist.  Listen to the full transcript of the bravado from our favorite race baiter and hater.

Police found 15 bodies, all slain men on a street outside a shopping center in Acapulco today. All but one of the bodies had been decapitated. Police report handwritten signs were left on the bodies, a common sign left from drug cartels.

The victims appeared to be in their twenties. Police have a policy of not wanting to give the cartels any desired publicity and have not released the messages left with the bodies.

Reforma newspaper however reported that they referred to the Sinaloa cartel, headed by drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

Reforma said they apparently indicated the victims were killed by the Sinaloa cartel for trying to intrude on the gang’s turf and extort residents.

” This will happen to those who attempt to enter the plaza. Sincerely, The Heavy Cartel. Chapo Guzman . “

” Compliments to all citizens, and will not be charged fees. Sincerely El Chapo Guzman n “.

The Hypocrisy of Rep S King- The Day the GOP Reads the Constitution, He Intros a Bill to Change it

The Hypocrisy of Rep S King- The Day the GOP Reads the Constitution, He Intros a Bill to Change it

Photo: Constitution

The National Council of La Raza assailed King on Friday in a mass email where it said: “The exact day that Republicans felt it necessary to read the Constitution aloud on the floor of the House of Representatives to remind everyone of the importance of upholding its principles, Rep. Steve King added his name to the list of those who want to deface it.

“He introduced a bill that would change the spirit and intent of the 14th Amendment,” the NCLR statement said, referring to the measure to deny citizenship to U.S. born children of illegal immigrants..

King was the ranking member of the House Immigration subcommittee when Democrats were in control. King has been very outspoken about his views on illegal immigration. He has been very vocally opposed to the DREAM Act, claims that children born of illegal immigrants perpetuate chain migration and should not be granted citizenship.
Many believe his in your face style lead to his failure to get the chairmanship of the immigration subcommittee. As the ranking member in the House, King had been viewed as their heir apparent.

The chairmanship of the committee has ended up being given to California Rep. Elton Gallegly, a self-described hawk on immigration who has nearly identical views to King on most immigration issues. Gallegly has voted against giving undocumented immigrants breaks of any kind, and has sought laws denying educational benefits and health care services to the undocumented.

“We’re entering a meaner, darker period on immigration,” said Frank Sharry, executive director of America’s Voice, a Washington D.C.-based group that advocates for pathways to legalization for undocumented immigrants.
“The debate is going to be ugly, the legislation coming out of the House is going to be radical.”

A San Antonio minister and an associate are accused of selling fake identification documents including green cards and social security cards to illegal immigrants.

A federal grand jury has indicted Felipe DeJesus Coronel Pacheco (55) and Luis Angel Tovar Cisneros (28) on charges of conspiracy to defraud the government and manufacturing counterfeit permanent-resident cards.
Both were arrested Dec. 16 in an undercover investigation and remain in custody. A bond hearing Thursday in San Antonio for Coronel was canceled after Felipe DeJesus Coronel Pacheco was indicted.

He’s also charged with making a false statement to immigration officers.

Over a five-month period, agents placed orders through Tovar for a fake green card and faux Social Security cards for $160 — and secretly watched him as he obtained them from Coronel, according to the affidavit.

Coronel, pastor of Ministerios Epicentro Donde Nace La Bendición in Austin, had moved from Austin to San Antonio in mid-2010, records show.

A woman who answered a phone number listed for Coronel’s church declined comment.

Tovar, who’s accused of being in the U.S. illegally, is held without bond.

As violence in Mexico continues to escalate, so does the number of asylum requests coming before federal immigration judges. Jose Alarcon, 27, was denied asylum this week by a judge in Dallas.

Alarcon told The Dallas Morning News last year that he refused to be bought off in Mexico and that he was in a 2008 gun battle in the border city across from El Paso as a result.

A Mexican ex-police officer, Alaron fled the narcotics violence in Juarez, Mexico.

Very few Mexicans are awarded asylum. In the courts. This case was unique as it involved a police officer that was not only fighting drug cartels, but also corruption in his own ranks.

Although some of the legislators on the South Carolina Senate judiciary subcommittee had concerns about the legality of some of the provisions, they still voted 3-1 to move the bill to the full judiciary committee. This moves the bill one step closer to becoming law in South Carolina. The subcommittee has been considering the bill for nearly a year. The discussion on the bill emphasized just how thin of a line law enforcement officials will have to walk should the bill become law.

The Immigration bill is an Arizona style bill that will enable local police and sheriff departments to enforce federal immigration laws.

Critics argue that the S.C. immigration bill is a violation of civil rights.
