¿Si ó No? Million Dollar Butt-Cheeks (VIDEO)

A less then luscious Latino man, Juan Rodriquez, streaked at President Obama’s weekend rally in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia hoping to earn $1.0 million in prize money.  The 24-year old resident of New York City was taking billionaire Alki David up on his offer:  A million to anyone willing to go commando in front of the Commander-in-Chief.

Rodriguez was required to streak by the President so that cameras could catch enough skin, display a web address on his chest and shout out ‘Battlecam.com’ as he passed the President.  Frighteningly Rodriquez didn’t believe he had done anything wrong and was demanding the prize money.  The boo’s are audible on the video but not sure if those are for Obama or for Rodriguez’ ample back side.  Rodriquez stated, “wacky things happen in our lives” well actually they do but more so to wackos.

David, clearly with a few screws loose himself, is reviewing video of Rodriguez streaking to determine if he will be paid out the prize money.  What do you think - are they million dollar cheeks?

It is being reported that the group drafted a contract to not seek individual profit from the ordeal but rather an all-for-one, one-for-all approach, whereby they would all share in the proceeds from their ordeal.  They have a lawyer; they have a book deal and a hope to never work in a mine again.

Spanish Second Most Common Spoken Language, Third Most Common on the Web

In research just released by Applied Economics professor Jose Luis Garcia Delgado, Spanish language is second in the number of speakers behind English. The study underlines a growing interest in Scandinavian and East European countries to learn Spanish as a second language.

Jose Luis Garcia Delgado said that in the United States Spanish is rapidly becoming “a cultural product very much valued by second and third generations of Hispanics well educated and wishing to remain faithful to their roots and the language”.

US Hispanics are one of the most active populations on the web, with 47% surfing an hour a day (compared to 44% who spend an hour or more watching TV).

“This can be explained because probably a great number of Hispanics in the US have a higher education level, besides the tendency to conserve the language” according to the expert.

Argentina, Chile and Spain are the Spanish speaking countries with the highest percentage of Internet activity, 50% of the population and in Spain 70%.

¡Felicidades! Spain on Your National Day

Spain’s National Holiday, known as Hispanic Day or Fiesta Nacional de España or Dia de la Hispanidad, is celebrated every October 12. This national holiday commemorates the day Christopher Columbus first set foot in the Americas. It is thus related to the Columbus Day celebrations held on the same day and for the same purpose across the United States.

During National Day, there is a parade led by the military (usually held in Madrid) presided by the Spanish King Juan Carlos. The Presidente del Gobierno has a special role in the ceremony, only second to that of the King. Then a wide array of authorities, from foreign diplomats deployed in Spain to members of the autonomous governments, are invited to attend the parade and aerobatics are performed by the Spanish Armed Forces.

President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent congratulations to Spain noting the long friendship between the two nations and to honor Spain’s contributions to their shared history, noting, “From the age of exploration and discovery to our current cultural and educational exchanges, Spain has had a profound impact on the United States.”

Guatemala Getting Help to Recover from Onslaught of Natural Disasters

An international conference opened in Guatemala today to help in the reconstruction of the Central American country after devastating volcanic eruptions and torrential rains, with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon pledging full United Nations support.

“We will continue to work hand-in-hand with national authorities and partners to provide coherent and responsive support to Guatemala in its effort to achieve its stated goal of ‘recovery and reconstruction with transformation,’” he added, noting that the “tremendous human suffering, material destruction and economic losses” have raised concerns over the effects of extreme weather associated with climate change.

ImageSuch tragedies “highlight the need for concrete action at the upcoming UN Convention on Climate Change, which begins next month in Cancún, [Mexico],” he stressed.  The convention is part of the world effort to stabilize human-caused greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere that could lead to global warming, violent storms and fierce droughts.
