Today in Latin American history, Pope Paul VI arrived in Colombia, it was the first visit of a pope to Latin America in 1968.
Earning the nickname “the Pilgrim Pope,” Pope Paul VI visited Bogota to attend the International Eucharistic Congress.
Popes John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis I have all made trips to Latin America during their papacy.
