Today in Latin American history, Peruvian revolutionary Abimael Guzmán, aka Presidente Gonzalo, who was the leader of the guerrilla group Shining Path was born in 1934.
Presidente Gonzalo led Shining Path during the Maoist insurgency known as the internal conflict in Peru.
Shining Path is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization.
