Honduran Constitutional Crisis Ended in 2010
Today in Latin American history, the 2009 Honduran constitutional crisis ended when Porfirio Lobo Sosa becomes the new President of Honduras in 2010.
The crisis began when President Manuel Zelaya planned to hold a poll on a referendum on a constituent assembly to change the constitution. But a majority of the government, including the Supreme Court and prominent members of his own party, saw such plans as unconstitutional.
Porfirio Lobo Sosa was elected in November 2009 with 56.56% of the votes.
