First Governor of Puerto Rico Luis Muñoz Marín was Born in 1898
Today in Latin American history, the first Governor of Puerto Rico Luis Muñoz Marín who was seen as “Father of Modern Puerto Rico” and the “The Architect of the Commonwealth” was born in 1898.
On November 13, 1961, John F. Kennedy honored Luis Munoz Marin for his accomplishments with a state dinner at the White House, and in 1963 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Muñoz Marín was re-elected three times, serving a total of sixteen years as Governor.
