Today in Latin American history, a Boeing 737 crashed into hilly terrain in Cuenca, Ecuador killing 119 in 1983.
Operated by the Ecuadorian national airline TAME, which was flying on a domestic route from Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito to Mariscal Lamar Airport in Cuenca.
The crash was the deadliest plane crash in the history of Ecuador.
The investigation showed that the crash occurred due to pilot error.
