Today in Latin American history, Aeroméxico Flight 498 collided with a plane in California killing 82 in 1986.
Aeroméxico Flight 498, en route from Mexico City, Mexico to Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California collided with a small propeller plane over Cerritos, California.
All 67 aboard both aircraft and 15 people on the ground were killed.
Human error from the pilot of the small plane and an air traffic controller in Los Angeles were responsible for the crash.
