Feds Head to Vegas
Las Vegas will be seeing some federal immigration officials as they arrive to answer questions about recent Las Vegas-area raids at bus terminals that led to the arrests of 31 people.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the East Las Vegas Community Center.
An activist, Michael Flores from ProgressNow Nevada and an immigrant rights advocate said that Hispanic residents have many concerns about the raids of July 29.
The sweep came on the same day a federal judge delayed implementation of some parts of a new Arizona immigration law.
ICE officials said the southern Nevada raids involved agents from Yuma, Ariz., trying to disrupt drug trafficking and human smuggling.
