Today in 1986 champion boxer Brandon Lee Rios was born in Lubbock, Texas. “Bam Bam” as he is lovingly referred to has won championship titles in the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organization. In 2011 he garnered the WBA lightweight title followed in 2015 by the WBO welterweight title.

Rios turned pro in 2009 after a “stellar” amateur run where he also qualified as an Olympic alternate.

This Taurus proudly represents his Mexican and Native American parents in and out of the ring. His last fight was on November 7, 2015 against Timothy Bradley in Nevada, where in lost in in TKO. Rios next big fight is expected sometime this year against Victor Ortiz.
