Today in 1958, Mexican writer and producer Guillermo Arriaga was born in Mexico City, Mexico. This creative Pisces is best known for his trilogy scripts for Amores Perros, Babel and 21 Grams. It was thanks to the success of Amores Perros that Hollywood took notice of his writing talents.
Arriaga considers himself an author who occasionally writes screen plays. His book Undule olo a mueret (A Sweet Smell of Death) was never meant to be anything more than a book but it was eventually adapted into a film. Amores Perros was his first true screen play and it was a resounding hit.
Arriaga is the author of four novels his most recent El Salvaje (The Savage) came out last year.
