Today in 1955 stand up comedienne and actor Paul Rodriguez was born in Mazatlan, Mexico. The son of migrant farmers, who eventually settled in California, started his career as a host of the 1980s hit ‘The Newlywed Game’. Today Rodriguez describes himself as the “Mexican Steve Speilberg” thanks to his successful foray into film making, directing and starring in ‘A Million to Juan’ in 2002.

Rodriguez started his career writing for other comediennes and taking any job he could including being a game show host. He has starred in numerous films but his passion and true Capricorn loyalty is to comedy. He is part owner of Los Angeles’ fabled Laugh Factory.

The Mexican-American talent is currently developing an NBC comedy “about being Latino in today’s America” along with long-time pal Cheech Marin and son Paul Rodriguez, Jr.
