Today in 1982 BMX rider and TV personality Ricardo Laguna was born in Laz Paz, Mexico. His family immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. when Laguna was 13-years-old.
The Mexican biking daredevil started making a name for himself in the amateur biking circuit at an early age, turning pro at the age of 21-years-old. Laguna continues to compete as a professional in spite of his many other commitments - in 2016 he earned 2nd place at the UCI USA BMX “Silver Dollar” competition and in the “American Patriot Fest”.
Like a true Aries Laguna wasn’t satisfied being a championship biker using his biking success to seek reality TV stardom. In 2012 Laguna launched the TV cable show ‘The Ricardo Laguna Project’ on MTV Tr3s. The premier was the most watched show ever on tr3s. The show is currently off the air.
Laguna, who currently resides in Las Vegas, is a big believer in giving back. He is involved in bike helmut giveaways and in his native La Paz, Mexico he helped built a biking park for local youth.
