Shakira Joins President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Hispanic Education

President Obama has appointed Shakira to his Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
Shakira has worked on a number of efforts to expand and improve comprehensive early childhood care and education around the world; on Wednesday, she became one of four new appointees to the President’s commission in charge of finding ways to improve education opportunities for Hispanics.
As a new appointee, Shakira is tasked with expanding academic excellence and improving educational opportunities for Hispanics by providing advice to President Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan.
Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, a lifelong educator, will join Shakira in the second White House Initiative for Educational Excellence for Hispanics commission meeting today
