China continues to grow in significance in terms of trade to the Latin American region. In 2010 the trade level between both sectors increased a stunning 51.2 percent to a record $178.6 billion.
Specifically Chinese exports to Latin America were valued at $88.3 billion and imports increased to $90.3 billion.
China’s trade in the region is growing at twice the level of the U.S. trade level and much higher than Latin America’s trade with the European Union. The U.S. however continues to be the largest trading partner of the region but those levels are either flat or growing at a slower pace than the Chinese trade numbers.
