Thursday, accompanied by Mexican President Felipe Calderon, General Motors announced that it will invest another $540 million into its plants in central Mexico to produce two low-emission motors.
Central Mexico continues to draw large investments from companies all around the world, despite initial worries about violence at it.
The production of new “green” engines will create about 1000 jobs, which include about 500 in the plant in Toluca. Overall, GM has four plants in Mexico, and has already invested around $5 billion there since 2006.
