COMMUNITY EVENT: The Logan Square Preservation House & Garden Walk, one of the longest-running neighborhood events of its kind, is scheduled for September 11, and features homes and churches along historic Kedzie Boulevard and surrounding thoroughfares. It’s official! A Year in Humboldt Park was selected for Chicago Artists Month!

A Year in Humboldt Park is the naturalist photo essay of the year 2009 by Dina Petrakis, curated by Candice Martens with collaboration by Gerald Ritchie. Exhibition is at the Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1359 N. Sacramento in Chicago, August 11 through October 29, 2010. Gallery hours: Friday 6-8pm and Saturday 1-4pm. August 11th opens with SummerDance at Humboldt Park. Man shot standing on corner at 1100 block North Pulaski

A 36 year old man was shot as he stood on the corner of the 1100 block of North Pulaski at 4:30 pm Saturday. Two people approached the man, one took out a gun and shot the man twice, according to police. No one is in custody at this time. continue reading »
