Doctor Mayté Rosas Gómez, an anesthesiologist at the IMSS hospital in Mexico’s western state of Nayarit, has suddenly found herself in hot water for controversial operating room pictures she allegedly took and posted onto her Facebook page along with sarcastic commentaries.  Her list of Facebook friends included government officials, medical students, as well as local dignitaries.

Doctor Rosas Gómez, a graduate of the esteemed Christopher Columbus school in Tepic, Nayarit, which is known for ‘promoting values,’ recently closed her Facebook page after posting these pictures yet not before outrage began not only in her home state of Nayarit, but worldwide.  Since the closure of her page, a new Facebook page has appeared entitled, “Púdrete Mayté Rosas Gómez,” which in English means ‘Rot in Hell.’

Among the shocking pictures published on the internet, one of the most appalling was that of a young boy prepped for surgery and unconscious.  Next to his picture appeared the caption, ‘No hitmen or anything.’

A picture of amputated legs was also posted with the caption, ‘And for breakfast, legs.’  These legs belonged to a 96 year old woman with severe circulation problems.

In addition to these disturbing postings, Rosas Gómez also posted pictures of a womb with fibroids as well as severed hands.  A picture of her with her feet on the operating table next to the head of a patient in surgery was also posted with the caption, ‘How comfortable and happy I am.’

In response to these unethical actions by the doctor, the Mexican Attorney General, or the PGR, has issued a lawsuit against the young doctor and anyone else involved in the posting of these pictures.

Recently, the IMSS has reportedly cancelled Doctor Rosas Gómez’s contract.  It is believed that the anesthesiologist will soon lose her license as a result of the scandal.
