Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla became the heroine of a tragic hit and run accident injuring three people last night when her security detail arrived on the scene.
The security team chased after the hit and run driver and detained the dark colored Hyundai. The driver, who was later identified by the last name Ordonez, was apparently under the influence and was immediately brought into custody.
The President noticed the accident around 9 p.m. when one of the vehicles hit a guard rail near the National Gymnasium in Sabana Park, which coincided with statements by officials.
She then immediately came to the aid of the three injured victims while ordering other members of her security team to block the road so that the victims wouldn’t get run over.
