Just a few months after formerly-troubled actor Robert Downey Jr. asked the world, Hollywood in particular, to forgive Mel Gibson for his drunken anti-Semitic rants just a couple years ago, the Mad Max star is just that, completely mad.
During a visit to Gibson’s Costa Rican home in December, the son of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, who had been working with him on The Maccabees, a film Gibson once said would be “the Jewish Braveheart,” recorded the actor on going postal and screaming at his houseguests.
In the recording obtained by The Wrap (see below), Gibson is heard yelling to Eszterhas, “Why don’t I have a first draft of ‘The Maccabees’? What the f*ck have you been doing?”
Gibson is also heard ranting about the mother of his daughter, ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, saying, “I am earning money for a filthy little cocksucker who takes advantage of me!”
In a 9-page letter to Gibson, which was leaked to The Wrap, Eszterhas details his shock at both Gibson’s rants and his apparent disinterest in actually making The Maccabees, and only using the screen writer to boost his image after his highly publicized anti-Semitic rant during a drunk driving arrest.
Though the recording is less than 3 minutes, Eszterhas assures everyone Gibson’s tirade went on for longer and that this was not the only occurrence. Eszterhas says he felt compelled to release the recording after being called a liar and hearing Gibson was plotting to interfere with his career.
Eszterhas was not the only houseguest. Members of his family, as well as friends of Gibson, and also his Costa Rican house staff were present.
