George Lopez’s late night talk show, “Lopez Tonight” on TBS has been canceled effectively immediate and the last episode will air tomorrow.
The cable network decided not to proceed with a third season of the Mexican-American comedienne’s show.
Lopez has been making entertainment history by being the first Latino to headline a television series with his “The George Lopez Show” and the first Latino late night talk show host with “Lopez Tonight”. With his first cancellation Lopez quipped TV just got a lot “whiter.”
The official statement from TBS read as follows: “TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.”
