The Taming of the Shrew at Benito Juarez Community Academy Performing Arts Center

Saturday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Presented in English with projected Spanish translation and featuring a prologue by leading members of the Pilsen community

WHO:              Chicago families will gather to watch a special 75-minute presentation of Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s (CST)  acclaimed production of Short Shakespeare!  The Taming of the Shrew with a prologue performed by members of the Pilsen community.


WHAT:            A special production of The Taming of the Shrew will be presented in English with projected Spanish translation as part of CST’s ongoing partnership with Benito Juarez Community Academy (BJCA), and with the support of The Chicago Community Trust, to realize Benito Juarez Community Academy Performing Arts Center’s potential as a performing arts facility and community center for greater Pilsen.  A Q & A with the cast will follow the performance.

                      Short Shakespeare! The Taming of the Shrew is directed by award-winner Rachel Rockwell and features Ericka Ratcliff, Matt Mueller, Don Forston, Alex Goodrich, Jeffrey Baumgartner, Jessie Fisher, José Antonio Garcia, Nicholas Harazin, Eric Leonard, Matthew Sherbach, Mick Weber, Tiffany Yvonne Cox and Terrence Mosley.

                      Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s ongoing partnership with Benito Juarez Community Academy provides individualized curriculum-based support to the high   school, while also working to realize BJCA’s potential as a performing arts facility and community center for greater Pilsen. Members of the CST’s artistic and education staff are infusing theater arts into the school’s curriculum through in-class and after-school student work, theatrical performances at CST and in the school’s auditorium, and professional development for teachers.
