Dominican singer Vladimir Dotel was hospitalized in Santo Domingo due to heart problems, doctors said.
Dotel, who became a national and international star in the 1990s as the frontman for Los Ilegales, started having an irregular heartbeat due to stress and excessive work, cardiologist Dr. Victor Atallah said.
“This is the second time that Vladimir has this condition, precisely due to too much stress and a large amount of work. We put him in the intensive care unit to get his arrhythmia down,” the specialist told the Listin Diario newspaper.
Dotel, who scored a huge hit with “La Morena Quiere Mas,” has been ordered to avoid stress and have bed rest for the next two weeks.
The singer will be released as soon as his symptoms improve, doctors said.
Vladimir Dotel too part last Tuesday in the presentation of the Casandra Prizes at Santo Domingo’s Teatro Nacional.
Last year, he staged a concert in the capital to mark his 16th year in show business.
