Mexican singer Belinda Peregrin Schull has offered a large sum of money, approximately $10,000, to the owner of the username ‘@belinda’ as an effort to convince her the owner to give up the name so she can use it as her twitter address.

The girl, who apparently has no interest in the offer, has repeatedly refused to give up her name. Consequently, she has been the victim of attacks by the many followers of the singer who rudely demanded the user to yield to their idols demands.

The other Belinda user, who lives in Stanford, California, has resisted the pressure to change her name and reiterated to the press that she does not see the need to give up her name and will not do so. She also made claims that her name is not for sale.

The conflict has now become a battle of wills over the namesake, as eyes turn to see whether the singer will raise her bid or conform to using her old username ‘@belindapop’, which has 880,000 followers. However, the confusion of the username has also gained ‘@belinda’ a hefty amount of followers, about 6,000.
