Voto Latino has announced that it will be offering non-partisan voter registration at the upcoming tour dates of Romeo Santos, whose new album ‘Formula Vol. 1’ has already claimed eleven weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. By fusing elements of Urban, Pop and Latin styles into the syncopated rhythms and passionate lyrical expression of bachata, Romeo Santos is creating a representative new sound for our evolving bicultural and bilingual world. Santos’ music has become the soundtrack for a new generation of Latino youth that is coming of age and will be going to the polls for the first time in 2012.
Says actor and Voto Latino co-founder Rosario Dawson: “When I started Voto Latino in 2004, we wanted to be part of a movement of people of every color, from every background, using art and music and politics to make a difference for all of us—every single American. Our dream is coming true. Artists like Romeo Santos and dozens more we’ll work with in 2012 are pitching in to do everything they can to help us represent for our country.”
Born and raised in the Bronx, Romeo Santos has spearheaded the chart revival of bachata, fully embracing the traditional Dominican sounds of his heritage, while incorporating modern urban elements into a definitive new style. Having already taken his innovative musical fusion from the school hallways and street corners of the Bronx to stages at The White House and the country’s leading concert venues, Romeo is now redefining crossover and taking Bachata mainstream with his widely heralded solo album “Formula Vol.1.”
