Each year, the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame bestows the Tommy Lasorda Award to non-Latinos who make significant contributions to Latino baseball, but this weekend is was Lasorda himself who was presented with an honor.

Friday, the Dodger Hall of Fame Manager and Special Advisor to the Chairman was joined by many as the bronze statue of himself was unveiled at the Paseo de los Inmortales (Hall of the Immortals) in La Romana.

At 84, Lasorda has worked with the Dodgers for more than 60 years, even serving as manager for the Dodgers farm team in the Dominican Republic, winning two championships and one Caribbean Series championship for the 1973-74 season.

Lasorda is also a founder member and Goodwill Ambassador for the Latino Hall of Fame.
