Hundreds of people gathered in Obregon Plaza in Culiacan, the capital of the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa, to sample a tamale that set a new Guinness record with a length of 154 meters (505 feet) and a width of 32 centimeters (about one foot).
Visitors to the plaza were also treated to beans and champurrado, a pre-Columbian beverage made from corn, chocolate, water and a hint of vanilla.
The goal was to make a tamale that was 142 meters (466 feet) long, but organizers exceeded the target, Culiacan Mayor Hector Melesio Cuen Ojeda said
