As the demand from international travelers to visit Mexico for business increases, international airlines are attempting to increase the number of flights to the country. And Mexico is beginning to look like the new aviation hub of North America.
Airline AeroMexico increased their flights from Barcelona and Madrid, Spain to Mexico City in July, made possible “thanks to their code share operations with Air Europa,” said BNO News.
Travelers arriving in Mexico on international flights increased 3.8 percent - roughly 1,141,159 people - from April 2010 to April 2011.
Other airlines such as Virgin America and Atlantic, American Eagle, and Brazil’s TAM have also begun similar services or will soon.
The second busiest airport in Latin America by passenger and aircraft traffic is still Mexico City International Airport.
