The Hill has just published a poll of likely voters and their view on offering citizenship to undocumented immigrant children, specifically children brought to the U.S. at a very young age.
The poll shows that nearly half, 48 percent, of those polled want to see these children offered a path to citizenship, while 34 percent do not agree. When asked if undocumented children in the military should be offered a path to citizenship those in agreement skyrocketed to an overwhelming 73 percent.
A path to citizenship for undocumented youth by enrolling in the military has garnered a lot of attention, ever since it was proposed by Republican presidential candidates last week.
As expected, the poll shows Democrats are more in favor of the path to citizenship idea but so are independent voters. In turn 46 percent of polled Republicans oppose the idea and only 32 percent favor it.
