Katy Paulino, a 25 year old woman from the Dominican Republic, yearns for her son and life back. After taking weight loss pills to get in shape, Katy began having health problems. Her abdomen began to grow and is now putting her life in danger.
Katy began taking an unregistered pill, referred to as ‘Chinese Pills’, to lose weight. She shed weight quickly while taking these pills. However, soon her stomach began to fill with an unknown liquid and started to consume her body. As a result, Katy became bedridden and was forced to send her 8 year old son to live with his father, as she is unable to take care of him in her current state.
Her mother and caretaker, Ana Cristina Paulino, does not have the resources to bring Katy for her weekly treatment and costly protein supplement. Her health prognosis is not known at this time.
