9-year old Calysta Cordova of Colorado, who went missing on Thursday, has been found safe after fleeing her kidnapper.
Cordova was reported missing by her mother, Stephanie Cordova, Thursday afternoon after the youngster failed to come home after school. It is believed she was abducted on her walk home and an Amber Alert was issued.
This morning Cordova was found at a Colorado Spring convenience store after refusing to get back in the car with suspected kidnapper, 29 year-old Jose Garcia.
Garcia, the Cordova’s next door neighbor, and the young girl were in a car that broke down early Friday morning when a bystander picked them up and dropped them off at the convenience store. It is there that Cordova snuck into the store, called 911 and then refused to get back in the car with Garcia.
Witnesses could tell something was wrong since the girl was very bruised, and had two black eyes. Garcia panicked and ran off on foot, police later apprehended at a bus stop.
